Abstract
Aetheris is a sovereign Layer-1 blockchain engineered for one purpose: to let regulated institutions issue, settle, and service real world assets on public infrastructure with the same legal certainty they expect from a central securities depository. Public blockchains offer global liquidity and programmability, but force a trade-off between transparency and confidentiality that no fiduciary can accept.
Aetheris removes that trade-off. Every transaction is validated against on-chain compliance policy using zero-knowledge proofs, so counterparties prove eligibility, solvency, and jurisdictional permissions without revealing identity or position size. Deterministic finality in under 800 milliseconds makes settlement legally final rather than probabilistic, and a verifiable compute layer allows AI models to price, rebalance, and risk-score assets with cryptographic proof of correct execution.

The Settlement Gap
Global capital markets still settle on infrastructure designed in the 1970s. A cross-border bond trade passes through custodians, sub-custodians, transfer agents and clearing houses, each reconciling its own ledger. Settlement takes T+1 to T+3, ties up an estimated $2.6 trillion in collateral daily, and leaves operational risk at every handoff.
Tokenization promises atomic settlement, but existing networks fail institutional requirements in three ways:
- Radical transparency. Public ledgers expose positions, counterparties and trading strategies to competitors and front-runners.
- Probabilistic finality. Chain reorganizations make it impossible to state with legal certainty when ownership has transferred.
- Off-chain compliance. KYC and transfer restrictions are enforced by centralized allowlists, recreating the intermediaries tokenization was meant to remove.
Permissioned chains solve privacy by sacrificing interoperability and liquidity, producing isolated ledgers that are little better than shared databases. Aetheris is built on the premise that compliance should be a property of the protocol, not of the participants.

Network Architecture
Aetheris separates concerns into four layers that communicate through a typed message bus. Each layer can be upgraded independently through governance without disrupting settlement.
| Layer | Responsibility | Implementation |
|---|---|---|
| Settlement | Ordering, finality, state commitments | Aegis BFT, Verkle state tree |
| Execution | Smart contract runtime | Parallel EVM + Rust WASM modules |
| Compliance | Policy evaluation and proof verification | PLONK-based circuits, on-chain policy registry |
| Compute | Off-chain AI inference with proofs | zkML coprocessors, optimistic fallback |
Parallel execution
Transactions declare read and write sets ahead of execution. The scheduler builds a dependency graph and executes non-conflicting transactions concurrently across cores, sustaining 48,000 TPS on reference validator hardware while remaining fully EVM-equivalent for existing tooling.
Asset-aware state
Unlike account-based chains that treat every token as an arbitrary balance mapping, Aetheris natively understands regulated instruments. Asset objects carry their own legal metadata, corporate-action schedules and transfer policy, enabling the protocol itself to enforce restrictions before a transaction enters a block.

Aegis BFT Consensus
Aegis is a pipelined Byzantine fault-tolerant consensus protocol derived from HotStuff-2. It tolerates up to one third of stake behaving maliciously while guaranteeing that any block with a quorum certificate is final and irreversible.
Safety: f < n / 3 (Byzantine stake) Liveness: 2 rounds after GST Finality: t_final ≈ 2δ + t_exec ≈ 640–780 ms (p99, 150 validators)
- Leader rotation every block with reputation weighting, so slow or censoring proposers lose influence automatically.
- BLS signature aggregation compresses validator votes into a single 96-byte certificate, keeping bandwidth constant as the set grows.
- Institutional validator tier: at least 40% of stake must be held by regulated, audited operators, providing a legally identifiable quorum for settlement disputes.

RWA Tokenization Framework
The RWA Framework standardizes the lifecycle of a tokenized instrument from issuance to redemption. Issuers deploy assets from audited templates, so every instrument on the network behaves predictably for custodians, auditors and regulators.
| Asset Class | Standard | Settlement |
|---|---|---|
| Sovereign debt & T-bills | AETH-1400 | Atomic DvP |
| Corporate credit | AETH-1400 | Atomic DvP |
| Private credit & funds | AETH-3643 | Atomic with NAV oracle |
| Real estate | AETH-721R | Escrowed, registry-linked |
| Commodities | AETH-20C | Custodian-attested |
Proof of reserve
Every asset is backed by an attestation chain: qualified custodians sign reserve statements that are verified on-chain every epoch. If an attestation lapses, the asset contract enters a restricted state that blocks new transfers until backing is reconfirmed, protecting holders from silent under-collateralization.
Corporate actions
Coupons, dividends, votes and redemptions execute as scheduled protocol events. Distributions are paid pro-rata in stablecoins at the block they fall due, eliminating record-date reconciliation entirely.

Zero-Knowledge Compliance
The Compliance Layer lets participants prove they satisfy a policy without revealing the data behind it. A fund can prove it is an accredited investor domiciled in a permitted jurisdiction without disclosing its name, address or holdings.
How a private transfer works
- 01A licensed identity provider issues the participant a signed credential, stored only in their wallet.
- 02When transferring an asset, the wallet generates a proof that the credential satisfies the asset's policy.
- 03Validators verify the proof in ~3 ms. Amounts and counterparties stay encrypted in a shielded note.
- 04Designated auditors hold view keys scoped by asset and jurisdiction, enabling lawful disclosure on demand.

Verifiable AI Compute
Institutions increasingly rely on machine learning for pricing, credit scoring and portfolio rebalancing, but cannot allow an opaque model to move assets on-chain. Aetheris provides a verifiable compute market where model execution is proven correct before its output affects state.
- zkML proofs for models under 50M parameters, verified natively by the protocol.
- Optimistic execution for larger models, with a 30-minute challenge window and slashing for incorrect results.
- Model registry committing weights by hash, so every inference is traceable to an audited, versioned model.
Compute providers stake $AETH to join the market and are paid per proven inference, creating demand for the token that scales with institutional automation rather than speculative activity.

$AETH Token Economics
$AETH is the native utility token of the network. It has a fixed supply of 1,000,000,000 with no inflationary emission. Validator rewards are funded entirely by network fees and a bootstrap allocation from the Ecosystem pool.
| Allocation | Share | Tokens | Vesting |
|---|---|---|---|
| Institutional Pool | 35% | 350,000,000 | 48-month linear, 12-month cliff |
| Ecosystem | 25% | 250,000,000 | Governance-controlled grants |
| Core Team | 15% | 150,000,000 | 36-month linear, 12-month cliff |
| Strategic Reserve | 15% | 150,000,000 | Treasury-backed, multi-sig custody |
| Liquidity | 10% | 100,000,000 | Unlocked at TGE |
Utility
- Staking to secure consensus and to bond compute providers.
- Fees for settlement, proof verification and compute jobs.
- Governance over protocol parameters, treasury and asset templates.
Fee distribution
fee_total = base_fee + compliance_fee + compute_fee 40% → burned (deflationary pressure) 45% → validators (pro-rata to stake) 15% → treasury (ecosystem & audits)

Governance
Aetheris uses a bicameral governance model that balances token holder interests with the obligations of regulated participants.
| Chamber | Members | Authority |
|---|---|---|
| Token Assembly | All staked $AETH holders | Parameters, treasury, upgrades |
| Institutional Council | Up to 21 regulated entities | Compliance policy, asset templates, veto on legal risk |
Protocol upgrades require approval from both chambers and a 14-day timelock. Emergency security patches can be fast-tracked by a 5-of-9 security council, subject to ratification within 7 days.

Security Model
- Slashing of up to 100% of stake for equivocation, and 5% for prolonged downtime.
- Formal verification of the consensus core and all RWA templates in TLA+ and Coq.
- Independent audits by three firms prior to each major release, with reports published in full.
- Bug bounty of up to $2,500,000 for critical vulnerabilities.
- Post-quantum readiness: account abstraction allows migration to lattice-based signatures without a hard fork.
